Pet Fences are a great way to allow your dog(s) some freedom while keeping your pet safe and close to home. Pet Fences come in two varieties: Wireless Pet Fences and In-Ground Pet Fences. They both operate in a similar fashion. Both types of Pet Fences use a transmitter and a collar. The transmitter, usually inside your basement or garage, sends a signal that defines a border or containment area. When your dog gets close enough to the border, he receives a warning from the collar. If the dog gets too close to the border, he receives a static correction which with proper training will cause him to return to the containment area. The difference between the Wireless Fence and In-Ground Fence is the method in which the containment area is defined. With a Wireless Fence, the transmitter sends an invisible signal in a circular pattern which defines the containment area. For a larger area, additional transmitters can be added. An In-Ground Fence uses a wire, usually buried, to determine the containment area. The size and shape of the containment area is determined by how the wire is laid out. The Wireless Fence only creates a circular containment area that can only be altered by using additional transmitters creating any configuration of overlapping circles. The In-Ground Fence containment area can be configured in virtually any shape. The size of the containment area using an In-Ground Fence is limited by the length of the wire and the capacity of the transmitter. Wireless Fences can cover an area of up to 2.5 acres depending on the model. In-Ground Fences can cover areas over 5 acres depending on the model. With any Pet Fence, you can add an unlimited number of dogs to the system by purchasing an additional collar or each dog you want to contain with your Pet Fence system. There are also Zones and Indoor Fences that keep your pet out of certain areas of your home, yard or garden. Zones and Indoor Fences work the same way as the Wireless Fence, but rather than keeping your pet inside of a containment area, Zones and Indoor Fences keep your pet away from areas of your home, yard or garden. When they get to close the transmitter, the collar delivers a static correction which keeps your dog away from the protected area. Outdoor Barriers operate the same as the Indoor Fence, but are designed for keeping your dog out of certain areas of your yard, garden or pool. |
